I need to remove about two or three rows of very old lap siding at the bottom of two exterior walls.
Do you have any suggestions or information about the best way to do it?
I'm thinking to insert a thin prying tool, lift up carefully until the nails can be removed, remove the rotted boards, put in the new boards and carefully re-nail them.
I want to avoid breaking the siding above the pieces being replaced.
This is not a hypothetical question. I had 108 board feet of siding made for this project (9 x 12 ft. sections of clear pine). The original siding is over 100 years old. Price was about $270.
Thank you.
